Kensington cat

Came across this lovely sculpture mounted atop a pole on Spadina – and it struck me as being just about as Toronto as a sculpture could be – not only was this area (and indeed most of downtown TO) full of wacky cats in the old days – but pretty much everyone I know over forty had that exact kind of chair in their house when they were kids.

The artists are David Hlynsky and Shirley Yanover, and this is just one of a whole series of funky and whimsical sculptures they installed around the edge of Kensington market.  (Roughly a block from Switzer’s – for grey-haired navigators)

All of the pieces are nifty in their own way – but for me, this one shines out – absolutely T.O. domestic-perfecto!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I am always curious about what you are thinking
